About CRSTool

Last updated:

CRSTool is a free, private and up-to-date set of tools for people planning to move to Canada through Express Entry. It started with one question I couldn't get a straight answer to: how many points do I actually need for PR?

How it started

Hi, I'm Sang. A while ago I sat down one evening to find out whether I had a real chance at Canadian permanent residence. I thought it would take ten minutes. It took weeks.

I tried one CRS calculator after another. Each one gave me a single number and nothing else. Some still counted points that IRCC had already removed. None of them told me why I had that score, whether it was good enough, or what I could actually do to raise it.

So I did it the slow way. I opened IRCC's official points tables on canada.ca, the language test charts and the list of past draws, and I worked out my score line by line in a spreadsheet. Along the way I learned the things nobody had explained to me: why CLB 9 is worth so much more than CLB 8, how a spouse can raise or lower your score, why your age points quietly drop every birthday, and why the cut-off for one type of draw can be 100 points lower than another.

When friends heard what I was doing, they started sending me their own details: "Can you check mine too?" That spreadsheet slowly turned into this website.

What I wanted to build

What I stand for

Accurate

Every score uses IRCC's published points grid and language equivalency charts, and I test the calculator against worked examples.

Up to date

When IRCC changes the rules or holds a draw, I aim to update the tools within 24 hours. The calculator already supports the November 3, 2026 rules.

Private

Your answers stay in your browser. No sign-up, no email, no profile.

Free

The tools are free to use. Any ads are kept away from the calculator itself.

I build and maintain CRSTool on my own: every calculator, every guide and every draw update. I'm not a lawyer or an immigration consultant. I'm someone who went through the same confusion you might be in now, and I check every number against IRCC's official pages.

Independent and unofficial

CRSTool is not affiliated with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or the Government of Canada. It's not a law firm or an immigration consultancy, and I don't offer paid advice. If you need advice about your own case, please speak with a lawyer or a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC); you can check any RCIC on the CICC public register.
