Will CRS Scores Go Down in 2026?

Last updated:

Short answer: CRS cut-offs are unlikely to drop in November–December 2026. The new high-wage points from November 3 push many scores up, and draws pause while IRCC recalculates. The best chance of lower Canadian Experience Class (CEC) cut-offs is early 2027, if IRCC repeats its big January draws. French-language draws should stay far lower than CEC. This is our forecast based on IRCC data, not a promise.

What happened in the last 12 months

Cut-offs follow draw size more than anything else. When IRCC invites more people at once, it reaches further down the pool and the cut-off falls:

Average CEC cut-off over 12 months: 517. Over the last 3 months: 519.

Should you wait for scores to drop?

Usually not. Your age points fall every year after 29, profiles expire after 12 months, and cut-offs can move either way. It's more reliable to raise your own score:

FAQ

Will CRS scores go down in 2026?

Probably not before the end of 2026. The November 3, 2026 high-wage points will raise many in-Canada candidates' scores, and draws pause for up to two weeks while IRCC recalculates profiles. Canadian Experience Class cut-offs are more likely to rise than fall in November and December. French-language draws are likely to stay low.

Will CRS scores go down in 2027?

Possibly, early in the year. In January 2026 IRCC held large CEC draws (6,000 to 8,000 invitations) and cut-offs fell to 507–511. The 2027 Federal High Skilled target (111,000) is slightly higher than 2026 (109,000). But the new high-wage points mean more candidates have higher scores, which pushes cut-offs up.

What makes CRS cut-offs go down?

Bigger draws. When IRCC invites more people at once, it reaches further down the pool and the cut-off falls. Higher yearly targets and category-based draws with lower cut-offs also help.

Should I wait for CRS scores to drop?

Usually not. Your age points can fall each year, and nobody can predict cut-offs. Raising your own score, for example with a language retest, French or a provincial nomination, is more reliable than waiting.
